The Partisan Media Syndrome (PMS)
The Partisan Media Syndrome (PMS) - Slugs, Skanks and Slimeballs - Part II of II
Perhaps one of the most interesting things about PMS is the extremely close relationship between certain low life politicians and the practitioners of PMS. In addition to the Dan Rathers and Eason Jordans of this world, just recently we had a perfect example how low life politicians and a good part of the print media work together as willing enablers and cheerleaders. As an example, the following is a verbatim quote from the U. S. Senate record:
“ If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime -- Pol Pot or others -- that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.”
Source: Speech on the floor of the United States Senate, June 14, 2005, delivered by little Dick Durbin, democrat Senator from Illinois, from a prepared, written speech - he wrote.
There was a time when no one serving in congress, especially when the country is embroiled in a serious war effort would dare deliver anything remotely resembling this outrageous, partisan diatribe. The subsequent uproar by the public and republicans caused little Dick Durbin to return to the floor of the Senate where – incredibly – he blamed the public for misinterpreting what he said! This created further public displeasure, which resulted in another lame attempt to justify/explain what he “meant”, by claiming he was not referring to American military personnel at the Guantanamo Bay holding facility. Please take another look at the verbatim quote above and notice the two (2) references to “Americans”, which are underlined for emphasis. After this attempt to lie about what he wrote and said as part of the Senate record, he went back to the floor for the third time and offered something that appeared to be an apology. However, there are those, including myself, who do not accept this smarmy, wriggling, too cute by half performance for anything less than what it is – a disgrace – all based on allegations, none of which were substantive.
In fact, the Defense Department in an investigation of 28,000 interrogations conducted at Gitmo found ten (10) allegations of possible “mistreatment” - that’s 10 out of 28,000! But that didn’t stop little Dick Durbin from slandering and libeling Americans serving in the line of duty. So, in this case it was not a member of the media, but a low life, ward heeling, politician who is the offender.
However, let’s take a quick look at how the PMS practitioners reacted to this.
Was there a universal outcry from the PMS crowd, with demands for the senator’s resignation? Well, no - again.
Did any other democrat senator or congress person go to the floor of the Senate to chastise little Dick Durbin? Uh, well, no.
How many of the major newspapers carried this story and its subsequent events on their front pages? I have no idea, but I do know that it was not front page copy in either the NY Times or the St. Petersburg Times. In fact, it’s my understanding that our own St. Pete Times did not carry the story at all until after Durbin’s lame third apology, about 7 days after his speech, when they finally gave it scant editorial mention.
So, once again we have the PMS press in lockstep with a low life politician in an effort to undermine our military personnel and make their job measurably more difficult as demonstrated by the front page treatment given Durbin’s speech by Al Jazeera, the propaganda sheet for Middle East interests.
One other interesting point. To the best of my knowledge not one, repeat, NOT ONE - elected democrat officeholder in the country called for little Dick Durbin to apologize, or demand his resignation or censure, with one lone exception – the Mayor of Chicago, Richard Daley. The democrat and PMS media silence was deafening.
On a personal note, I received the following comment from a rabid, fringe, partisan democrat who in response to my comment about Durbin’s “apology” responded by email as follows:
“Why should he apologize for telling the truth?
I’m mad as hell that he capitulated to Radical Right criticism.” Incredible!
So it’s not only low life politicians and the PMS crowd who are “misguided”, it seems that there are others whose minds are made up and who refuse to be confused with the facts and who represent the real ugliness of partisan politics.
But we’re not ever allowed to question their patriotism, because it’s just possible that they were for the military and the war effort… before they were against it.
Here’s an inside tip for little Dick Durbin and his PMS pals. It’s a fact that there’s not one prisoner at Gitmo who is there because he was arrested for jay walking in the desert, or was picked up for loitering with intent of mopery.
Virtually all of them are terrorists, thugs or murderous barbarians.
And that’s a Reality Check.
